Next up in our series celebrating the people of our community is Jordan Watson.
Jordan is a hugely talented chef who first crossed our path during his time as Head Pastry Chef at the Old Course Hotel. He’s full of life and creativity, always exploring bold new ideas. While working with him, we found ourselves pushing the boundaries of what was possible with ingredients in gelato and sorbet. He has a genuine passion for creating, sharing, and growing.
What struck us most is the way Jordan carries himself and shares his knowledge. He started out as a culinary student locally, refined his craft in London, brought it back to St Andrews, and is now teaching in Dundee & Angus as a lecturer. For those who know him, it’s no surprise – Jordan has always been someone who gives back to the next generation.
Hospitable by nature, he continues to do so much for the community, keeping curiosity and innovation alive in local kitchens.
When we met with him again recently, his dedication to helping students discover what they’re capable of was clear. Jordan knows the importance of connecting with those coming up behind him because he was once in their shoes. He’s the kind of role model every young chef needs.
We asked him what gelato or sorbet flavour he would choose for you, and his curiosity led him straight to a fresh summer sorbet with a twist: Strawberry Olive Oil & Salt Sorbet.
Stay tuned – we’re working on bringing his idea to life soon.
Thank you, Jordan.
