At the end of the 19th century, Bennett Jannetta and his wife Antonia Rossa left the small village of Atina in the province of Frosinone (Lazio region of Italy) for Scotland. By 1908, Bennett and Antonia opened B. Jannettas at 31 South Street. For four generations and 115 years, our family has been making much-loved premium gelato in St. Andrews.
We use only the finest ingredients, many of which are sourced locally or imported from Italy. All our gelato is made on the premises using traditional Italian artisan machinery by our skilled gelato makers.
Through creativity and experience, the Jannettas team produces a wide range of gelato flavours, both traditional and modern. In our St. Andrews premises, we offer a 54-flavour range and a 24-flavour range in our Dundee store. We produce the classics: pistachio, hazelnut, chocolate, and vanilla, as well as the more unique: chocolate malt and pecan, spiced apple and caramel, banana, dulce de leche, and toasted almonds. We also offer a wide range of sorbets and vegan gelato.
The Jannettas team is skilled not only in gelato production but also in gelato cake design and creation. Our gelato cakes are hand-made from scratch by our in-house gelato cake chefs. We offer a set range of cakes, carefully designed and constructed with flavour combinations our team suggests you try.
It doesn’t stop there. From the same family of gelato, Jannettas offers a range of semifreddo desserts. Again, hand-made from scratch, Jannetta’s semifreddos have a smooth, frozen mousse-like texture. Available in-store, you will find traditional Italian flavour combinations: pistachio, chocolate & hazelnut, almond & lemon, chocolate & coffee, and Tiramisu.
