Ice-cream institution Jannettas Gelateria has been nominated for the prestigious Scottish Italian Awards 2015.
Jannettas, who have premises in both St Andrews and Perth, has been put forward for the ‘Best Gelateria’ category, with the general public having the chance to vote up until the end of September.
The Scottish Italian Awards pride themselves on being ‘the fairest contest in the country, handing power over to the people who really matter, the general public’. Voters can opt for their favourite Italian businesses across Scotland, from the best delis and pizza restaurants to best Barista, wine list and of course Gelateria.
The five businesses with the most votes in each category reach the final and, after a visit from a panel of esteemed independent judges, the winner will be crowned at a glitzy gala final in Glasgow on 8 November 2015.
Owen Hazel, co-owner, Jannettas commented, “We’re absolutely delighted to have been nominated for these prestigious awards. The Scots Italian element of our business underpins everything, and is at the heart of what we do each day.
“In 1908, my wife Nicola’s Great Grandfather Bennett Jannetta started the family business in St Andrews as a soda parlour and tobacconist and Nicola and I have now been running the business for the last 21 years. Our aim is to carry on the family tradition of making only the best quality Gelato, create new and delicious flavours and indulge our customers!”
