Reward for Cool Contribution to Dundee School Event

The owner of ice-cream institution Jannettas Gelateria has been presented with a special commendation for his contribution to a Dundee school’s annual day out.

Each year, the Rotary Clubs of Dundee fundraise and organise the Kingspark School ‘Kids Out’ event which, this year, took place on 10 June 2015.  Once again, Jannettas Gelateria in St Andrews provided free ice-cream for both children and families attending the afternoon, outdoors part of the day.  The morning consisted of trips to the cinema and a local soft play centre.

Owen Hazel, co-owner was today (Tuesday 30 June 2015) awarded with a Certificate of Merit from Rotary Clubs of Dundee for his contribution over the past five years.

Recognising Jannettas’ input into the event, Harrison Watson, Chairman of the Rotary ‘Kids Out’ event said, “We are extremely grateful to Jannettas for their ongoing support of this fantastic event which provides a great day of fun for deserving Dundee school pupils. It’s lovely to see them enjoying the day and the ice-cream and, of course, parents gain so much pleasure from seeing their children enjoy the day too.”

Owen added, “As parents ourselves, my wife Nicola and I are delighted to support this event for Kingspark children and their families.  We feel humbled for the recognition we have received from the Rotary who, after all, do so much work throughout the year to raise funds for the ‘Kids Out’ day and who also deserve a huge pat on the back.”

Laura Hart, Depute Head Teacher, Kingspark School said, “Each year, the Dundee Rotary clubs put together a fabulous programme for all Kingspark School pupils to take part in.  One of the programme highlights is the delivery of ice cream from Jannettas Gelateria in St Andrews.  This is a very special treat which brightens up the day regardless of the weather!  Thank you so much Jannettas for your ongoing support, and delicious ice cream.”
