Great to have a recent return visit from the group of young people who will shortly be heading off to Greenland to undertake an expedition with The Polar Academy in polar conditions. We are sure the ice cream you had will build up the much needed reserves to power your way through your forthcoming challenge.
It would be great if our Facebook followers could show their support for this fantastic bunch of young people and their mentor, Scotland’s first ever “Explorer in Residence” since 2013, Craig Mathieson, by following their Polar Academy Facebook page. He set this project us in the belief it would “unlock the vast potential within the ‘invisible and forgotten’ young adults in our education system and turn them into positive role models for their community and families.
Tirelessly campaigning Craig raises £170,000 necessary to make this once in a lifetime experience possible for these young people and, as he explains “One thing I insist on is that there is no charge made to the families involved. A place on the Polar Academy is free – the payback is the delivery of talks which each participant must do on their return from the ice. The inspiration of their peers is the most important aspect of the Polar Academy.” He continually strives to raise funds by trying to get new sponsors and contributors. If you would like to support this great cause, you can get involved by going to their Facebook page and selecting the ‘Donate Now’ button at the top of this page which will take you to either a PayPal or by going to their Just Giving page on the Polar Academy’s website http://thepolaracademy.org/
It has been a great pleasure meeting you all over the past weeks. The Jannettas team would like to wish you all good luck. Please keep us posted on your progress. We look forward to following your progress on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/thepolaracademy.
Bon Voyage!
